Artificial Pet Grass

Artificial pet grass is something that dog owners attempt to use to potty train their dog or as a continuing solution to their dog potty needs while living in the city without a yard. There are many pet potty systems out there that profess the effectiveness of artificial pet grass using drainage systems and massive amounts of cleaners. Well, after being in business for over 7 years let us tell you the truth behind using artificial pet grass as a potty solution for your dog.

When we started Doggy and the City over 7 years ago we offered both real natural pet grass and artificial pet grass. We soon came up against a wall of complaints from customers regarding the synthetic grass and promptly stopped offering the artificial grass option. Since then we routinely replace synthetic dog grass systems on a weekly basis with our real dog grass solution.

Below is a list of the reasons we heard from clients against the use of artificial pet grass.

  1. Difficult to train their dog – Bottom line synthetic turf is very foreign to dogs. Dogs see synthetic grass as they do other household items you have told them not to pee on including rugs, bath mats, towels, etc. So when you try to train your dog on artificial pet grass it is very confusing for them. New clients routinely convey to us the difficulties they have had using fake grass as the reason they have signed up for our natural dog potty grass delivery service.
  2. It really smells – No matter what cleaners, disinfectants, or deodorizers you use it is impossible to completely eradicate the smell of pee soaked synthetic grass. Natural dog potty grass absorbs urine and odors naturally in the blades of grass and attached soil. With Artificial pet grass there is nowhere for the urine or smell to go, it just dries on the surface and crevices of the fibers. Some synthetic grass dog potty systems have drainage systems which double the problem. Not only do get the dried up urine on the surface but you also have to clean a pan of urine out every couple of days, not fun.
  3. High Maintenance – As mentioned earlier there is virtually no way to completely eradicate the smell that comes with using artificial pet grass. In an effort to do so though people spend tons of time and money cleaning the synthetic surface daily with expensive chemical cleaners that are unhealthy for your dog. Natural dog potty grass is super absorptive so there is no need to worry about cleaning up any urine residue, and absolutely no reason to purchase expensive cleaners. Just pick up any poop when you see it and wait for your next grass delivery to get to you and that’s it.

The bottom line is that natural grass is by far the best and most affordable option for you and your pet when planning your dog potty solution. Artificial pet grass is expensive, hard to clean, smelly, and most of all very difficult to train your dog to use. Our dog potty grass delivery is available in all of Los Angeles county and some areas of Orange county in Southern California.
