Real Dog Grass or Fake Dog Grass

Why is real dog grass better than fake dog grass? We get asked that question quite a bit because all we use is real dog potty grass for our indoor dog potty. This article will show you why real dog grass is better that fake dog grass on every level. Doggy and the City has been providing dog owners with real dog grass delivery since 2006 and we have replaced many fake synthetic grass indoor dog potty systems.

Fake Grass = No Absorption

Real dog grass absorbs urine and odors naturally, fake dog grass has no ability to absorb any urine or odors. We use real dog grass for our dog grass service because our clients enjoy the low maintenance of it. With real dog grass the urine gets completely absorbed into the grass and soil attached to the grass.  With fake dog grass you have to scrub it every few days with harsh cleaners and deodorizers, if not you will have a terrible smell and a very unhealthy dog potty area for your dog. Some fake dog grass potty systems even come with a urine pan that collects excess urine. If you have one of these systems you will have to dump out a urine pan every few days somewhere in your apartment and then scrub it to ensure that it does not smell. The bottom line is that fake grass creates much more work than you want because it has no ability to absorb urine.

Real Dogs Love Real Grass

When you walk your dog you can see how much they loving using real grass to do their business. When you use real dog potty grass with our indoor dog potty you are working with your dogs natural instincts, not against them. Fake dog grass is foreign to dogs and ends up confusing them because it is so similar to other items in your house. Many of our clients who replaced the fake dog grass potty with ours tell us that their dog started peeing on other items in the house that resembled the fake grass. These items include bath mats, rugs, towels, and small blankets.

Fake Grass Smells

As we mentioned earlier, fake grass smells because the urine has nowhere to go and just sticks into the fake grass and dries. Real natural grass absorbs the urine into the soil so it doesn’t sit on top and smell. After only a few uses by your dog you will see that fake dog grass will smell really bad. Why would you buy and indoor dog potty if it was going to stink up your patio or home.
