Building your own grass dog potty box at home

At Doggy and the City we provide you with a free dog potty box when you sign up for our dog grass delivery service. That’s great right? But say you want a special color or a different finish? Building your own grass dog potty box is actually pretty easy if you have a bit of know how.

Picking up grass every 2 weeks can be a very difficult task due to the unreliable supply at places like Home Depot and the local nursery. Not to mention the time it takes to go down there and do it. Building your own grass dog potty box at home is a one-time task so it might make sense.

At any Home Depot you can have the mill ( cut ) wood for you in the sizes and angles that you will need to create a dog potty box. For a dog any size over 10 pounds you will want to have about ten square feet of grass area so that your dog has plenty of room to move around on it and pick a spot to do what they need to do.

When building your own grass dog potty box you want to make sure that the inside edges of the area is 30 inches wide by 48 inches long. This will allow you to place 2 pieces of standard size sod in the box. This would be the normal large box delivery service from Doggy and the City.

At Home Depot just tell the staff that you need four 2 x 4’s cut at 45 degree angles so that you have an inside area of the above mentioned 30 inches wide and 48 inches long. Once you have these cut for you they are easy to nail together at the corners in order to give you the frame of the box.

Then all you will need to do is have a piece of plywood cut to the exact measurements of the outside edges of the frame, this should be about 2 feet 9 inches wide and 4 feet 3 inches long. Once you have the plywood cut the proper size you just need to nail it to the bottom of the frame, it’s that easy.
